Seller Policy

This Seller Policy applies to all sellers registered on Women’sPortal.in (collectively referred to as the “Marketplace”“Platform”“Website”“we”“our”, or “us”).

The purpose of this Policy is to establish fair, transparent and responsible marketplace practices while supporting , women entrepreneurs, artisans, home-based businesses and other eligible sellers in conducting lawful and ethical business through the Marketplace.

This Policy should be read together with the Seller Agreement, Seller Products & Services Policy, Terms & Conditions, Privacy Policy and other Marketplace policies.

  1. Purpose

The Marketplace has been established to promote women entrepreneurship, Self-Help Groups (SHGs), rural producers, artisans and micro-enterprises by providing a technology-enabled platform for promoting and selling eligible products across India.

The Marketplace also provides a Service Directory for eligible independent service providers. Unless expressly stated otherwise, the Service Directory functions only as a listing platform and not as an online booking or payment platform.

  1. Seller Eligibility

The following may apply to become Marketplace sellers, subject to verification and approval:

  • Registered Self-Help Groups (SHGs)

The Marketplace reserves the right to approve or reject any seller application without assigning any reason.

  1. Registration Requirements

Every seller shall provide accurate and complete information during registration, including, where applicable:

  • Name of SHG
  • Business or SHG details
  • Address
  • Mobile number
  • Email address
  • Bank account details
  • PAN
  • GST registration (where applicable)
  • FSSAI license (where applicable)
  • UDYAM Registration (where applicable)
  • Other licenses or approvals required by law

Providing false, misleading or incomplete information may result in suspension or permanent removal from the Marketplace.

  1. Platform Subscription

Sellers shall maintain an active Marketplace Subscription.

The Marketplace currently charges a nominal Platform Subscription Fee for maintaining seller accounts, digital infrastructure, business support services and platform operations.

The Platform Subscription Fee is not a commission on product sales.

Subscription charges may be revised from time to time after appropriate notice through the Marketplace.

  1. Zero Commission Policy

The Marketplace presently follows a Zero Commission Policy.

This means the Marketplace does not deduct any commission from the sale value of products sold by sellers.

However, sellers shall remain responsible for:

  • applicable taxes;
  • statutory deductions required by law;
  • shipping charges where applicable;
  • payment gateway charges, if notified;
  • any other charges specifically disclosed by the Marketplace.

The Marketplace reserves the right to introduce or modify commercial policies in future after appropriate notice.

  1. Permitted Products

Sellers may list only lawful products that comply with applicable Indian laws and the Marketplace’s Seller Products & Services Policy.

Permitted categories generally include:

  • Agriculture & Farm Produce
  • Handicrafts & Artifacts
  • Clothing & Fashion
  • Home & Lifestyle
  • Food Products
  • Books & Education
  • Sports & Fitness
  • Industrial Products
  • Beauty & Personal Care
  • Natural Wellness Products
  • Other approved product categories

Certain regulated products may require valid licenses, registrations or certifications before listing.

  1. Prohibited Products

The following products shall not be listed or sold through the Marketplace:

  • counterfeit products;
  • stolen goods;
  • illegal goods;
  • prohibited wildlife products;
  • narcotic drugs;
  • tobacco products;
  • alcohol (unless specifically permitted by law and Marketplace policy);
  • weapons or explosives;
  • products violating intellectual property rights;
  • expired products;
  • unsafe food products;
  • medicines requiring statutory approval without valid licenses;
  • products prohibited by applicable law.

The Marketplace may remove prohibited listings without prior notice.

  1. Product Listing Standards

Every seller shall ensure that product listings are truthful, complete and accurate.

Listings should include:

  • product title;
  • clear photographs;
  • product description;
  • specifications;
  • dimensions or weight;
  • ingredients where applicable;
  • manufacturing details where required;
  • expiry date where applicable;
  • applicable warnings;
  • license details where required.

Misleading claims, false advertisements or exaggerated product benefits are prohibited.

  1. Pricing Policy

Every seller independently determines the selling price of products.

Prices should:

  • be fair and transparent;
  • clearly indicate applicable taxes where required;
  • disclose shipping charges where applicable;
  • avoid misleading discounts or deceptive pricing practices.

The Marketplace does not determine or negotiate product prices.

  1. Orders and Fulfilment

Upon receiving an order, sellers are expected to:

  • acknowledge the order promptly;
  • prepare products carefully;
  • package products securely;
  • dispatch orders within the committed timeframe;
  • update shipment details.

Repeated order cancellations or dispatch delays may adversely affect seller performance.

  1. Shipping Responsibilities

Sellers are solely responsible for:

  • packaging products appropriately;
  • selecting reliable logistics partners;
  • dispatching products safely;
  • complying with applicable transportation laws;
  • providing shipment tracking where available.

Risk associated with products remains with the seller until delivery to the customer unless otherwise provided by law.

  1. Customer Service

Sellers shall maintain courteous, professional and timely communication with customers.

Sellers should:

  • respond to customer enquiries promptly;
  • resolve complaints fairly;
  • cooperate during returns and refunds;
  • provide accurate product information;
  • avoid abusive or misleading communication.
  1. Returns, Refunds and Replacements

Sellers shall comply with the Marketplace’s Return, Refund & Replacement Policy.

Where a return request is approved due to seller error, damaged goods, defective products or incorrect deliveries, the seller shall cooperate fully in processing replacement or refund.

Repeated refusal to honor legitimate customer claims may result in corrective action by the Marketplace.

  1. Seller Performance Standards

Seller performance may be evaluated using factors including:

  • order acceptance rate;
  • dispatch timeliness;
  • delivery success rate;
  • cancellation rate;
  • return rate;
  • customer complaints;
  • product quality;
  • customer ratings;
  • policy compliance.

Consistently poor performance may result in temporary suspension or permanent removal from the Marketplace.

  1. Licenses and Regulatory Compliance

Sellers are solely responsible for obtaining and maintaining all licenses, registrations and approvals required for their products.

Examples include:

  • FSSAI licenses for applicable food businesses;
  • GST registration where applicable;
  • Legal Metrology compliance;
  • BIS certification where applicable;
  • AYUSH licenses where legally required;
  • Cosmetic manufacturing licenses where applicable;
  • Other statutory approvals prescribed under Indian law.

The Marketplace’s acceptance of a product listing shall not be interpreted as legal approval or certification of the product.

  1. Service Directory

Eligible sellers may also list lawful services through the Marketplace’s Service Directory, subject to separate approval and compliance requirements.

The Service Directory functions only as a listing platform.

Unless expressly notified by the Marketplace:

  • online payment facilities shall not be available for service transactions;
  • service contracts are entered into directly between customers and independent service providers;
  • the Marketplace does not supervise, guarantee or endorse any listed services.
  1. Compliance with Marketplace Policies

Every seller agrees to comply with:

  • Seller Agreement;
  • Seller Products & Services Policy;
  • Terms & Conditions;
  • Privacy Policy;
  • Shipping & Delivery Policy;
  • Return, Refund & Replacement Policy;
  • all future Marketplace policies.

Failure to comply may result in suspension or termination.

  1. Suspension and Termination

The Marketplace reserves the right to suspend, restrict or terminate seller accounts for reasons including:

  • violation of Marketplace policies;
  • submission of false information;
  • counterfeit products;
  • prohibited products;
  • repeated customer complaints;
  • fraudulent conduct;
  • misuse of the Platform;
  • violation of applicable laws.

Suspension may be temporary or permanent depending upon the seriousness of the violation.

  1. Policy Updates

The Marketplace may revise this Seller Policy periodically to reflect changes in applicable laws, Marketplace operations or business practices.

Updated versions shall become effective upon publication.

Continued use of the Marketplace constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
